Learn the fundamentals of 2-hand rod nymphing and spey casting with a 4-hour on water class. There is often times a misconception that spey casting/rods are only for giant rivers and steelhead. Though it is a great tool for that application, spey rods and casting can also be adapted to trout and our local waters. This class will focus on the basics of spey and 2-handed rod applications, as the fundamentals are the same no matter what species you’re fishing for. There will be an added focus on how to apply 2-handed rods to nymphing high water. Many of these techniques can be applied to your single hand fishing as well. You will be amazed at how much 2-handed spey techniques carry over to single hand casting. We will discuss fishing techniques, proper equipment, lines, and fly selection.
