Grey Reef Fishing Report
Latest Update: 5/11/2024
Current Streamflow : 1504 cfs @ Grey Reef
The flows on the Grey Reef have bumped up a little over the last week which helps push more food down river. The fishing has been steady with fish being found on a variety of nymph patterns. There have still been plenty of BWO's and midges hatching on this section.
Nymph rigs seem to be producing the best recently as the water is still cold. Make sure you are ticking bottom every once in a while to ensure you're fishing deep enough. Having a larger leech, worm, or annelid as a lead fly with a smaller bug behind is a great option when nymphing. BWO and midge patterns in sizes #18-22 make for great dropper flies behind your first. We will soon start to see some other bugs hatching but for the time being the smaller bugs are producing great.
Make sure to have some additional weight on your nymph rigs to get your flies down to the fish in some of the deeper holes. Nymphing has been the most productive way to find fish as of late, but streamer fishing is always worth a try and often times produces some larger fish.
